With Honor Action Applauds Extension of National Guard Federal Orders to Continue COVID-19 Response and Recovery Efforts

CHARLOTTE, NC – With Honor Action applauds the decision today to extend National Guard orders to fight COVID-19. Currently, more than 40,000 National Guard members are deployed to aid coronavirus response and now they can continue their mission. Military veterans in Congress worked together so that active National Guard members can now receive the federal retirement and education benefits they earned.

“Our National Guardsmen and Guardswomen are valiantly serving our nation on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and they deserve our nation’s gratitude,” said Rye Barcott, With Honor Action Co-Founder and CEO. “I’m pleased to see military veteran Members of Congress on both sides come together and arrive at solutions that are best for our country.”

While serving as Members of Congress, both Representatives Max Rose and Michael Waltz were activated by their respective National Guard units to fight the spread of COVID-19.

With Honor Action is a cross-partisan movement focused on supporting military veterans who want to work across the aisle and put principles before politics while serving again in Congress. With Honor Action’s advisory board includes post-9/11 veterans and Gold Star family members — Chris Howard, Ryan Manion, and Medal of Honor Recipient Florent Groberg — as well as prominent American leaders such as Secretary George Shultz, Secretary Robert Gates, Admiral Michael Mullen, Michèle Flournoy, and David Gergen.

With Honor Action is a 501(c)(4), which serves as the organization’s policy and social-welfare arm. With Honor has an affiliated federally registered “super PAC” called With Honor Fund.
