The Brandon Act
With Honor Action and the For Country Caucus have prioritized pragmatic bipartisan legislation helping to fight our nation’s mental health crisis, particularly as it impacts military service personnel, veterans, and their families.
The Brandon Act is named for Petty Officer 3rd Class Brandon Caserta, who died by suicide after unsuccessfully reaching out for help. Championed by For Country Caucus Member Rep. Seth Moulton and Vice-Chair Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, working alongside Senator Mark Kelly, a Navy veteran, it allows servicemembers to seek mental health treatment and requires a mental health evaluation as soon as they self-report. It also allows Americans in uniform to seek help confidentially and, if necessary, outside the chain of command. As of May 2023, the Brandon Act was fully implemented across the U.S. military.
Watch our Brandon Act video below:
"The Brandon Act empowers servicemembers to get mental health help without going through their chain of command and without retaliation. The Brandon Act will save military lives. It protects the anonymity of servicemembers who are seeking mental health care and requires their commanders to get them help immediately. We are so grateful to the veterans in Congress and groups like With Honor Action who were critical to getting this done."

“As we gathered support to pass the Brandon Act to address the scourge of military suicide, I appreciated the work and support of With Honor Action and the For Country Caucus.”
