With Honor Action Mourns the Passing of U.S. Marine and Former Secretary of State George P. Shultz

CHARLOTTE, NC – With Honor Action joins others in mourning the passing of Secretary George P. Shultz. Secretary Shultz served as a U.S. Marine, the 60th U.S. Secretary of State, 62nd U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, a member of With Honor Action’s Advisory Board, among many other civic and leadership roles throughout his remarkable life.

“From his time leading Marines in combat in World War II to his tenure as Secretary of State during the Cold War, Secretary Shultz served his country with distinction and tremendous impact,” says With Honor Action Co-Founder and CEO Rye Barcott. “It was our great privilege to work with him on With Honor Action’s Advisory Board and a testament to his unceasing drive to improve the lives of others that he did so well into his 90s, often joining calls five minutes early and offering poignant closing remarks. With Honor extends our sympathies to the Secretary’s family, and we carry on with our mission informed by his example and wisdom.”

In December 2020, Secretary Shultz published an op-ed in The Washington Post titled “The 10 most important things I’ve learned about trust over my 100 years.” This short article, the final published piece we are aware of that Secretary Shultz wrote, should be required reading for any American who chooses a path of public service.
