With Honor teamed with dozens of veteran organizations that have been deeply engaged in the effort to pass comprehensive burn pit legislation for over a decade — notably Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the American Legion — to help advance the successful cause. Then Rep. and For Country Caucus Vice Chair Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) brought in TV host and political commentator Jon Stewart to brief the Caucus on his work helping veterans affected by burn pits, and With Honor helped form a coalition among Republican veteran Members of Congress.
The PACT Act, which President Biden signed in August 2022, helps provide potentially life-saving care to the estimated 3.5 million veterans exposed to burn pits, radiation, and other toxic substances while deployed overseas. These veterans will no longer need to battle the Department of Veterans Affairs to prove that the disproportionate rate of rare cancer affecting Global War on Terror veterans is linked to their exposure to toxins while deployed.
With Honor applauds this committed network of organizations on a major accomplishment and thanks them for their continued work to put the needs of veterans and servicemembers first. With Honor also congratulates Members of the For Country Caucus who led efforts for passage in the House. To learn more about the PACT Act, check out the video from With Honor.
