With Honor Action Praises the Successful Bipartisan Approach in the Senate on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

CHARLOTTE, NC – With Honor Action praises the bipartisan efforts behind the successful passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This critical legislation, which provides historic and much needed investments in America’s infrastructure, passed the Senate with a bipartisan majority of 69 to 30, with 50 Democrats and 19 Republicans voting in support of the bill. As the bill moves to the House of Representatives, With Honor Action hopes to see this bipartisan approach continue.

“The passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is proof that bipartisanship leads to progress. I am grateful for the work many Senators put into this important legislation and their commitment to working across the aisle,” says With Honor Action Co-Founder and CEO Rye Barcott. “Now we need to see the same willingness to compromise and work together continue in the House of Representatives.”

With Honor Action Mourns the Passing of U.S. Marine and Senator John W. Warner

CHARLOTTE, NC – With Honor Action mourns the passing of Senator John W. Warner, a veteran of the U.S. Marines and member of With Honor’s Advisory Board. Senator Warner volunteered for the U.S. Navy toward the end of World War II at age 17. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean War while taking a leave of absence from the University of Virginia School of Law. His service to our country continued throughout his life, including as Secretary of the Navy during the Vietnam War, and later a five-term U.S. Senator from Virginia and Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

“It was an honor to have benefited from Senator John Warner’s service on our Advisory Board,” said Rye Barcott, Co-Founder and CEO of With Honor Action. “On a call with my son last month, Senator Warner said he always tried to live to the line from Hamlet: ‘To thine own self be true.’ He certainly succeeded in that quest, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of principled veterans answering the call to serve again and run for elected office.”

With Honor Action Mourns the Passing of U.S. Marine and Former Secretary of State George P. Shultz

CHARLOTTE, NC – With Honor Action joins others in mourning the passing of Secretary George P. Shultz. Secretary Shultz served as a U.S. Marine, the 60th U.S. Secretary of State, 62nd U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, a member of With Honor Action’s Advisory Board, among many other civic and leadership roles throughout his remarkable life.

“From his time leading Marines in combat in World War II to his tenure as Secretary of State during the Cold War, Secretary Shultz served his country with distinction and tremendous impact,” says With Honor Action Co-Founder and CEO Rye Barcott. “It was our great privilege to work with him on With Honor Action’s Advisory Board and a testament to his unceasing drive to improve the lives of others that he did so well into his 90s, often joining calls five minutes early and offering poignant closing remarks. With Honor extends our sympathies to the Secretary’s family, and we carry on with our mission informed by his example and wisdom.”

In December 2020, Secretary Shultz published an op-ed in The Washington Post titled “The 10 most important things I’ve learned about trust over my 100 years.” This short article, the final published piece we are aware of that Secretary Shultz wrote, should be required reading for any American who chooses a path of public service.

With Honor Action Presents Principles Before Politics Award to Rep. Adam Kinzinger

CHARLOTTE, NC – With Honor Action – a cross-partisan movement dedicated to promoting and advancing principled veteran leadership in order to reduce polarization – announced Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) as the recipient of the Principles Before Politics Award.

“On behalf of With Honor Action, I’m honored to present Congressman Adam Kinzinger with the Principles Before Politics Award,” said Admiral Michael Mullen, 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and With Honor Action Advisory Board Member. “This award encapsulates the tough decisions that Congressman Kinzinger has made during his career in service to the United States.”

The With Honor Action Principles Before Politics Award is bestowed annually to an individual who, in service to our nation, demonstrated three values that inspire the With Honor Pledge: integrity, civility, and courage. Elected in 2010, Rep. Kinzinger is serving his 6th term in Congress and represents Illinois’s 16th congressional district. Prior to then, he earned a commission in the U.S. Air Force and flew KC-135 Stratotankers in several theaters, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Congressman Kinzinger currently serves on the House Energy and Commerce and Foreign Affairs committees while continuing to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard.

“Congressman Kinzinger is deeply committed to honoring his Oath of Office and to upholding our nation’s Constitution,” said Rye Barcott, With Honor Action CEO and Co-Founder. “This conviction has guided him through his career as a U.S. Air Force pilot, as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard, and as a Member of Congress. Congressman Kinzinger’s actions serve as a model for those who want to foster a government that works for and is trusted by the American people.”

Congressman Kinzinger is the second recipient of the With Honor Action Principles Before Politics Award. In 2019, the award was given to Charlene and John Lugar who accepted it on behalf of the late U.S. Senator Richard Lugar, a U.S. Navy veteran.
